First Saturday Practice Session Report - Results

Michael Schumacher set the fastest time of the session with Juan Pablo Montoya setting the second fastest time and just 0.025 seconds behind. We may have that fight that most of us are anticipating afterall!.
David Coulthard was third and over half a second off the pace while Kimi Raikkonen was 4th just under 0.8 seconds off the pace. Ralf Schumacher was 5th ahead of Eddie Irvine.
The encouraging news is that the top 6 were separated by less than a second.

Rubens Barrichello had an engine failure which forced the session to a stop as his car was in a dangerous spot on the track. He missed almost all of the session and it will be hard for him to get back early in the second session.
Barrichello continues to have bad luck this weekend as he also lost most of the first practice session yesterday.

Apart from Barrichello's incident, Villeneuve stopped on the track a minute before the end of the session while a number of drivers went off but managed to recover.

Alex Yoong and Kimi Raikkonen covered the most number of laps with 17 while Rubens Barrichello only managed 4 laps.

The Michelin runners still appear to have an advantage here with 7 out of the top 10 on their rubber.

With track temperatures expected to increase over the second session, will we see a non-red car topping the timesheets ?
