Second Saturday Practice Session Report - Results

Marred by intermittent rain, the second Saturday practice had very little excitement. Drivers struggled to match their times earlier in the morning, but some managed to improve on their earlier times showing that development on this years cars are far from finished.

Both Williams drivers managed to go faster giving Montoya the third fastest and Ralf Schumacher the fourth fastest run of the morning. Raikkonen also improved his time, but not significantly enough to improve his standing. Heidfeld moved up one slot to seventh place and Villeneuve came from 12th place into eighth. Fisichella improved his position from 13th to 10th and McNish from 17th to 15th.

Although the BMW powered Williams cars were both faster than the McLarens the gap between all four is less than three tenths of a second. The Ferraris are 1.2 seconds ahead of them. Unless McLaren and Williams still plan to do a lot of further set up it does not auger well for the race. Ferrari looks dominant.
