Pole time in 2001 - Michael Schumacher - 1:26.892

Australian GP - Qualifying.

69 Min: Qualifying session over. Order remains unchanged with Rubens Barrichello grabbing Pole ahead of Michael Schumacher and Ralf Schumacher. Coulthard, Raikkonen, Montoya, Trulli, Fisichella, Massa, Heidfeld, Button, Panis, Villeneuve, Salo, Frentzen, McNish, Bernoldi, Webber, Irvine, de la Rosa, Yoong and Sato make the rest of the field

68 Min: Track still very wet even though the sun is out. Michael Schumacher is much faster than Sato who is the only other driver out now

63 Min: Some sunshine but it will be too late to change anything

60 Min: Michael Schumacher is also out on the track

58 Min: Raikkonen out too - again just circulating to get the feel of the car - he is 25 seconds off the pace

56 Min: Webber is out too. He needs the wet experience and is making the best of the last 10 minutes.

54 Min: Coulthard is out again on full wet tyres

53 Min: Jaguar are second and third last - they are just not getting the same performance as Arrows who are using the same Cosworth engines.

50 Min: Coulthard is out and several other cars are coming out. Not to qualify - just to get some wet experience with possibly full tanks.

46 Min: Rain continues

42 Min: Order: Barrichello, M Schumacher, R Schumacher, Coulthard, Raikkonen, Montoya, Trulli, Fisichella, Massa, Heidfeld, Button, Panis, Villeneuve, Salo, Frentzen, McNish, Bernoldi, Webber, Irvine, de la Rosa and Yoong.

40 Min: Rain is not easing - in fact it is getting worse.

39 Min: Sato may be allowed to start from the back of the grid

36 Min: Montoya is out again but the track is still too wet for him to do anything - he is struggling. Montoya returns to the pits

33 Min: Rain continues, they are all waiting.

30 Min: Most cars are back in the pits waiting for the next dry spell the track is empty and quiet.

28 Min: Sato still does not have a car - he could be the first casualty of reliability.

25 Min: Order: Barrichello, M Schumacher, R Schumacher, Coulthard, Raikkonen, Montoya and it is starting to rain!

23 Min: Barrichello now post his best and moves into the lead (1.25.843)

21 Min: Michael Schumacher now fastest (1.25.848)

20 Min: 1.26.446 for Coulthard gets him in the lead but on the same lap Ralf moves into first with 1.26.279

18 Min: Fisichella now second fastest - Coulthard is flying, so is Ralf Schumacher

16 Min: Montoya second fastest - Schumacher come out for only one lap. Heidfeld is currently third

15 Min: Montoya in a good position to post a fast lap but got baulked by Fisichella in the Jordan.

14 Min: Session restarted the Renaults out early, Williams are out too

9 Min: Sato's car is being retrieved so Jordan may have two cars again. Villeneuve's car is also being retrieved - obviously not as lucky as Coulthard whose car checked out fine.

7 Min: Coulthard made it back to the pits, Raikkonen in second place

6 Min: Coulthard involved in accident with one of the BARs

5 Min: Both Ferraris out Barrichello does 1.27.000

4 Min: Fisichella and Sato have to share the same car. Fisichella is out now and he is pushing it 1.32.283

2 Min: Many cars out.

0 Min: Webber out

-2 Min: Weather overcast but still dry. Most teams will want to get a fast lap in early in case it rains later

Session starting at 1:00 PM local time
