Rubens Barrichello set the fastest time of the
session ahead of Michael Schumacher and David Coulthard. Jarno Trulli, Kimi
Raikkonen and Eddie Irvine make the top 6.
The session was delayed for an hour due to the foggy
conditions in the area and it was then decided to cut the session down to half
an hour. Despite that, Ferrari continued to dominate with both Barrichello and
Michael over a second faster than Coulthard in 3rd place.
Trulli in 4th was over 1.8 seconds off the pace with
Raikkonen close behind. A surprise Irvine was 6th but over 2.1 seconds off the
pace.
There were no major incidents during the session although
Juan Pablo Montoya failed to set a time and the Arrows cars didn't take part
in the session.
Olivier Panis suffered a blown engine towards the end of the session.
Takuma Sato, Jacques Villeneuve and Olivier Panis covered
the most number of laps with 12 while Pedro de la Rosa only managed 4 and Juan
Pablo Montoya did 3.
We should get a better picture following the second session.
