Juan Pablo Montoya hits a loose drain cover and retires. Safety car is deployed while all drain covers are checked. Michael Schumacher spins while behind the safety car and retires. Narain Karthikeyan crashes heavily but escapes injury. 16 cars were classified. Renault, Toyota, Red Bull, Sauber, Williams and Minardi manage to finish both their cars.

1.	Rubens Barrichello	Rubens Barrichello wins the inaugural Chinese Grand Prix with Jenson Button finishing second ahead of Kimi Raikkonen. Fernando Alonso finished 4th with Montoya in 5th. Sauber managed both their cars in the points! Michael Schumacher who started from the pit lane after aborting his qualifying session only managed 12th after tangling with Klien and spinning. 16 cars were classified as finishers. Ferrari, BAR, McLaren, Renault, Sauber and Jordan managed to finish both their cars. No team failed to finish either of their cars.
