Second Saturday Practice Session Report - Results

Juan Pablo Montoya set the fastest time of the session ahead of Kimi Raikkonen and Ralf Schumacher. Rubens Barrichello was 4th ahead of David Coulthard and Michael Schumacher.
Jenson Button continued his good form setting the 7th fastest time ahead of Fisichella, Massa and Heidfeld.

The field is much closer this session as the teams focus on the all important qualifying session this afternoon. Under half a second separates the top 6 (comprising the 3 top teams). Button in 7th is over half a second slower than Michael Schumacher in 6th!.
The top 12 are separated by under 2 seconds and less than 3 seconds separates the top 20.

Kimi Raikkonen continues to impress and so did Jenson Button and Felipe Massa. The three have managed to set times faster than their more experienced team-mates.
Mark Webber has managed to outpace his team-mate but it looks as if they'll be at the back of the grid although not too far behind BAR who appear to be in a very bad shape here!

Several drivers spun during the session with Coulthard spinning more than once and on his last spin towards the end of the session he got stuck in the gravel. Trulli, Heidfeld, Barrichello and Sato all had moments but managed to recover. Heinz Harald Frentzen managed to put a few laps this session but his session was cut short by smoke coming out of his car.

Eddie Irvine covered the most number of laps overall in both sessions with 30 followed by his team-mate Pedro de la Rosa with 29 and Allan McNish with 27. Frentzen covered the least number of laps with 10 while Michael Schumacher only did 14 and Rubens Barrichello 17. All other drivers covered between 18 and 26 laps.

The fight for pole is set to be a thriller. With only half a second between the top 6, expect the fight to be very close.

Qualifying starts at 1:00 PM local time.
