60 min: Montoya doesn't improve. Raikkonen improves his time but has been bumped down to 11th by the Saubers!

59 min: Ralf Schumacher remains in 3rd. Massa moves into 7th and Heidfeld takes 8th!

59 min: Montoya on track as well. Ralf's second sector was too slow!

58 min: Ralf Schumacher on his final run. It will be nearly impossible for him to catch the 2 Ferraris!

57 min: Barrichello on his last run looks like improving .... he does, by 0.013 seconds!

56 min: Michael Schumacher improves but remains in second. He is only 0.046 behind Rubens!

55 min: Michael Schumacher slower than Rubens at the second sector!

48 min: Ralf Schumacher doesn't improve as he makes a mistake. Raikkonen improves but remains in 9th!

47 min: A number of drivers are on their 3rd runs including Ralf Schumacher and Kimi Raikkonen!

46 min: The top Michelin runners are certainly closing the gap to Ferrari under these conditions and are leaving the other Bridgestone runners behind them. In fact only 4 Bridgestone runners are in the top 10 at the moment!

45 min: Top 10 - Barrichello, M Schumacher, R Schumacher, Montoya, Button, Coulthard, Fisichella, Trulli, Raikkonen and Massa.

44 min: Michael Schumacher moves into second with a time of 1:13.417. Just behind Rubens!

44 min: Michael Schumacher not as fast as Barrichello in the first sector!

44 min: Davidson is the first to start his 3rd run.

41 min: Top 10 - Barrichello, R Schumacher, M Schumacher, Montoya, Button, Coulthard, Fisichella, Raikkonen, Massa and Panis.

40 min: And Montoya moves into 4th with a time of 1:14.706

40 min: Ralf Schumacher moves into second with a time of 1:13.746!

39 min: Fisichella takes 7th with a time of 1:15.272. Ralf fast!

38 min: Jenson Button moves into 4th with a time of 1:15.214. Coulthard takes 5th with a 1:15.223

37 min: And he takes provisional pole with a time of 1:13.346. That is stunning!

37 min: Barrichello much faster this run than Michael!

36 min: Barrichello starts his second run. de la Rosa moves into 7th with a time of 1:15.867

35 min: Barrichello, Sato, Button and Fisichella have yet to set competitive times as they all lost their first run due to Button's spin.

34 min: Davidson on his second run improves his time with a 1:17.959. He should be safe for qualifying!

33 min: Top 10 - M Schumacher, R Schumacher, Montoya, Raikkonen, Massa, Panis, Trulli, Heidfeld, Coulthard and Villeneuve.

32 min: Olivier Panis moves into 6th with a time of 1:15.722

31 min: Barrichello was on a timed run when Button spun in front of him losing him time. He was very quick before that.

30 min: Michael Schumacher takes provisional pole by over half a second with a time of 1:14.006

29 min: Michael Schumacher quicker than Ralf by half a second at the second sector.

29 min: Michael Schumacher starts his flying lap!

28 min: The 2 Ferraris are on the track.

27 min: Ralf Schumacher takes provisional pole with a time of 1:14.471. Stunning!

27 min: Kimi Raikkonen moves into second with a time of 1:15.435. Ralf Schumacher flying!

26 min: Nick Heidfeld goes second with a time of 1:1:16.035.

26 min: Villeneuve sets a time of 1:16.351. Montoya goes fastest with a 1:15.228. Both are faster than this morning.

25 min: Montoya and Heidfeld start their flyers as well.

25 min: Villeneuve starts his first flyer. de la Rosa on the track too.

24 min: They are followed by Raikkonen, Coulthard, Massa and Ralf Schumacher. This will be interesting.

23 min: And here we go .... Montoya, Villeneuve and Heidfeld are out on their first runs.

22 min: A lot of drivers are getting strapped and ready in their cars so expect the action to start very soon!

20 min: Still only Davidson has set a time so far. No other driver has appeared yet.

17 min: Each driver is waiting for the other drivers to lay rubber on the track. This usually creates traffic problems at the end of the session as all the drivers go out for their last run then trying to get maximum grip!

16 min: Davidson finishes his first run and pits. No cars on the track.

15 min: And Anthony Davidson sets a time of 1:19.206. That is slower than his fastest time in the morning.

14 min: Anthony Davidson starts his first timed qualifying lap.

12 min: Anthony Davidson is the first out on the track.

10 min: As in Monaco, qualifying is crucial here as this track doesn't provide any overtaking opportunities. Last year 5 of the top 6 on the grid finished in the top 6 in the race.

9 min: This will be the real test for Davidson as he goes head to head with Mark Webber. If he gets close to Webber he could be making a name for himself.

8 min: No cars on the track yet. Expect Davidson and Sato to be among the first out onto the track.

6 min: The track temperature has dropped a degree. The cloud movement is affecting the track temperatures.

4 min: Michael Schumacher's best time from the morning was just over 0.2 seconds slower than the Pole time from last year. Expect the pole time this year to be in the low 1:13's

2 min: As usual, no driver has come out yet and it is unlikely that we'll see any driver come out before the 15 minute mark, even the rookies!

Session underway

Air temperature has risen to 27 degrees while the track temperature is now 30 degrees. That is welcome news for the Michelin runners. Session starting in 2 minutes

The Arrows team isn't present here as they are still trying to solve their financial problems. Alex Yoong has been replaced by Anthony Davidson at Minardi after Yoong failed to qualify 3 times this season. Session starting in 5 minutes

The temperatures have gone up since the morning but it is unlikely that it will be enough for the Michelin runners to make up for the huge advantage Ferrari has. Session starting in 8 minutes

Ferrari dominated all the practice sessions this weekend and it doesn't appear as if any of their rivals will be able to challenge them. Session starting in 10 minutes

Session starting at 1:00 PM local time. It is partly cloudy with an air temperature of 26 degrees.
