British GP - Qualifying Session

Final Order - Juan Pablo Montoya, Rubens Barrichello, Michael Schumacher, Ralf Schumacher, Kimi Raikkonen and David Coulthard make the top 6.
Trulli, Salo, Villeneuve, Heidfeld, Massa, Button, Panis, Sato, McNish, Frentzen, Fisichella, Bernoldi, Irvine, Webber, de la Rosa make the rest of the field. Alex Yoong fails to set a time within 107%

60 min: What an amazing end and a stunning comeback from Montoya. His 4th Pole position in a row!. Raikkonen takes 5th from Coulthard.

60 min: Michael Schumacher fails to improve and neither does Barrichello or Ralf Schumacher as they get stuck in traffic!.

59 min: Montoya gets provisional pole but Michael is still on a fast lap!. Montoya's time is a 1:18.998

58 min: Montoya is fast but so is Michael!

57 min: Actually everyone who have laps left are on the track including de la Rosa who has yet to qualify!

56 min: The top 6 are on the track except for Ralf.

55 min: Bernoldi moves into 17th with a time of 1:21.780. Alex Yoong improves but not enough to qualify.

54 min: Alex Yoong on his final run. He needs a big improvement to qualify. Bernoldi also on his final run.

53 min: At the front, Barrichello has 1 run remaining while Michael, Ralf and Juan Pablo have 2 runs. It doesn't look like they'll have time to use them though.

52 min: Felipe Massa moves into 11th with a time of 1:21.191. Alex Yoong has 1 run remaining and he needs to improve by over half a second in order to qualify. Pedro de la Rosa still to set a time!

51 min: Top 10 - M Schumacher, Barrichello, R Schumacher, Montoya, Coulthard, Raikkonen, Trulli, Salo, Villeneuve and Heidfeld.

50 min: Jacques Villeneuve moves back into the top 10 with a 1:21.130 good for 9th behind a surprise Mika Salo!

49 min: Jenson Button moves into 11th with a time of 1:21.247.

48 min: David Coulthard improves his time but remains in 5th with a 1:20.315.

47 min: Ralf Schumacher's time was only 0.3 seconds off Barrichello's

47 min: Juan Pablo Montoya moves into 3rd only to be bettered by his team-mate Ralf.

46 min: Barrichello grabs provisional pole from Michael with a time of 1:19.032.

45 min: Pedro de la Rosa has yet to set a time while Alex Yoong has yet to qualify!

45 min: Takuma Sato is doing well on this track taking 10th only for Panis to take it away from him.

44 min: Rubens Barrichello on track and so is Raikkonen, Montoya and Ralf!

43 min: And Michael Schumacher shaves another half a second off his time with a 1:19.042. Stunning.

43 min: Top 10 - M Schumacher, Barrichello, R Schumacher, Coulthard, Montoya, Raikkonen, Trulli, Heidfeld, Villeneuve and Frentzen.

42 min: Giancarlo Fisichella moves into 16th with a time of 1:22.110. Michael Schumacher on track for his second run.

41 min: Kimi Raikkonen aborts his lap and appears to have a problem!

41 min: Mark Webber takes 18th and he is ahead of Eddie Irvine!

40 min: Fisichella is back on the track in the spare Jordan. Raikkonen starts his second run.

39 min: David Coulthard takes 4th away from Montoya on his second run.

39 min: Jacques Villeneuve moves back into 8th on his second run with a 1:21.219.

38 min: Jarno Trulli makes it into 8th with a 1:20.724.

38 min: Alex Yoong improves on his second run but is fractionally outside the 107%

37 min: Trulli, Button, de la Rosa and Fisichella have yet to set a time. Alex Yoong is outside the 107%

36 min: Top 10 - M Schumacher, Barrichello, R Schumacher, Montoya, Raikkonen, Coulthard, Heidfeld, Panis, Sato and McNish.

35 min: Rubens Barrichello takes second with a time of 1:19.624

34 min: Enrique Bernoldi moves into 9th with a time of 1:22.165 

34 min: Ralf Schumacher takes second away from his team-mate with a 1:19.921. 

33 min: Toyota are looking good this session with Salo in 7th and McNish in 10th after a bad start to their weekend! 

32 min: Eddie Irvine in the revised Jaguar moves into 12th on his first run. 

31 min: Montoya moves into second with a time of 1:20.502, Ralf Schumacher on the track. 

30 min: Montoya on track! 

29 min: Several drivers had to abort their runs due to Button's engine failure. 

28 min: Giancarlo Fisichella in trouble as he stops on the track. Jenson Button has an engine failure. Both will have to use their spare cars to qualify!

27 min: Kimi Raikkonen takes second from his team-mate with a time of 1:20.595. Still over a second behind Michael.

27 min: Top 10 - M Schumacher, Coulthard, Sato, Salo, Frentzen, Villeneuve, McNish, Massa, Panis and Bernoldi.

26 min: David Coulthard moves into second with a time of 1:20.714. That is over 1.2 seconds behind Michael!

25 min: Michael Schumacher grabs provisional pole with a time of 1:19.491. That is almost a second quicker than last year's Pole time!

24 min: Takuma Sato tops the timesheets with a 1:21.808 followed by Panis with a 1:22.555 but Michael is on his flyer!

23 min: Mark Webber takes second with a time of 1:23.399. That is better than his best time from practice.

22 min: Drivers are pouring in now!

21 min: Michael Schumacher on track, that's early for him! 

20 min: Mark Webber starts his flyer while Olivier Panis and Takuma Sato are on the track too. 

19 min: Now Mark Webber is on the track. 

17 min: Bernoldi sets the first time of the session with a 1:23.135. Yoong sets a 1:25.911. Both Slower than their best practice times!

16 min: And Yoong too! 

16 min: Bernoldi starts his flying lap. 

15 min: And Alex Yoong follows 

15 min: Finally a car is on the track and it is the Arrows of Enrique Bernoldi! 

14 min: Alex Yoong struggled to set a time within the 107% mark today and only managed to achieve that towards the end of the second session. This will be another tough test for him. 

12 min: Despite their grave financial situation, Frentzen managed to set the 9th fastest time in the second session today. Their car seems suited to this track. 

10 min: Mika Salo had a stomach infection that prevented him from participating in the practice sessions yesterday  (apart from an installation lap). He seems to be fine today but the Toyota doesn't seem to be suited to this track as they have struggled in both wet and dry conditions. 

8 min: Still no cars on the track! 

6 min: Jaguar are introducing their long awaited aero package which they are hoping to move them up the field. This will be their first real test. 

4 min: Behind the top 3 teams, the gaps are very close with Sauber, Renault, Arrows, BAR, Jaguar and Jordan all with a chance to qualify inside the top 10.  

2 min: Rubens Barrichello was fastest this morning ahead of his team-mate. Both appeared to have kept some in reserve. The Williams duo were 3rd and 4th and the McLaren duo were 5th and 6th!

1 min: It isn't expected to rain during the session so the teams are expected to do their usual thing and wait for a while! 

Session underway ...

The financial crisis at Arrows appears to have been averted for the time being after Tom Walkinshaw managed to strike a deal with Cosworth by to continue supplying him with engines. Session starting in 2 minutes

Ferrari dominated all the practice sessions this weekend. Williams in dry conditions in today's second session have closed the gap. While the temperatures have gone up slightly, it is unlikely that Williams will be able to challenge Ferrari for the front row. Session starting in 5 minutes
