This was my point last week. A race should not be decided in qualifying and on the first lap. If this had been a track that passing was possible, then I think DC would have been lucky to finish in the points, let alone on the podium. But the other side of the coin is the history of Monaco and the social event that goes with the race weekend.
What's the answer? Drop Monaco? Tear down buildings to widen the track?
I don't know, I just feel that for a race that is so important historically that it needs a better venue - Jeff S - USA (Reference Heretic 4-15 - A rare win for McLaren)

The Heretic replies:

Hi Jeff,

I honestly think that Monaco cannot be a venue for a points scoring GP for much longer. I can understand the tradition and sentiment that must make the organisers reluctant to change the venue but a race that has the order of the procession determined by qualifying and screw ups on starting and pitting only should not count for points.

Yep, if it were not for Monaco’s narrow, winding, totally inappropriate for racing, streets Coulthard would have led for less than a lap or two.
