Dear Heretic,

So much harping by other teams and drivers about Ferrari using their old car for the 1st race. I'm sure the top 2 teams and their drivers are hoping that they wouldn't make to mark, but here's what I think. Remember that it took Ferrari to clinch their 1st driver's championship after a hard fought 21 years. It cost them dearly to not only bring Michael over from Benetton, but also Jean Todt and Rory Byrne. If one remembers, Luca Montezemolo told his squad to bring back to championship `at any costs' in 2000.
Having done that and followed by a back to back win again in 2001, it doesn't take a fool to figure out that such a top brass team like Ferrari would be fool-hardy to let what they have built and all that money spent over the past few years - and who knows what that figure maybe - to let it all slip way so soon. Another consideration is they're Italian, very shrewd in calculations and meticulous in execution.
So, I tend to agree with you that they never intended to use the F2002 at all for this Sunday's race. For those hopefuls in the likes of DC and JPM, I got this to say to them. New in most cases may not be better, at least not for this 1st race. Also, we've just began to witness to era of Ferrari domination, and that's not about to end soon.

The Heretic replies:

True, but will we really see Ferrari dominating? Their new car is just as untried, in fact more so, than the cars that Williams and McLaren are racing. Who is getting the better experience?

The season is not over yet.

The Heretic
