Spanish GP - 2nd Friday Practice

Final Order: Michael Schumacher, Heinz Harald Frentzen, Jenson Button, Rubens Barrichello, Olivier Panis and Enrique Bernoldi make the top 6.
Raikkonen, Fisichella, Massa, Trulli, Irvine, Coulthard, Heidfeld, Sato, R Schumacher, Villeneuve, Montoya, Salo, de la Rosa, Webber, McNish and Yoong make the rest of the field.

60 min: Session over, a few driver have yet to complete their final lap.

59 min: Takuma Sato moves into 14th. Ralf Schumacher is in 15th and Juan Pablo Montoya is in 17th. Despite their position, they are not too far off the pace, just over a second actually.

58 min: Final run of the day!

56 min: It is worth noting that at this stage, the top 13 are separated by less than a second. But we don't know who is on light fuel load and who isn't.

55 min: Jarno Trulli goes off but recovers.

54 min: Giancarlo Fisichella improves his time but remains in 8th.

53 min: Pedro de la Rosa improves but remains in 18th with a 1:22.094.

52 min: Eddie Irvine moves into 11th with a time of 1:21.294.

50 min: Top 10 - M Schumacher, Frentzen, Button, Barrichello, Panis, Bernoldi, Raikkonen, Fisichella, Massa and Trulli.

49 min: A number of drivers are on the track but no one is improving.

47 min: Kimi Raikkonen moves into the top 10 with a 1:20.996 in 7th place.

46 min: He fails to improve.

45 min: Michael Schumacher on a flyer!

44 min: Top 10 - M Schumacher, Frentzen, Button, Barrichello, Panis, Bernoldi, Fisichella, Massa, Trulli and Coulthard.

42 min: Olivier Panis improves his time but remains in 5th behind Barrichello.

41 min: Villeneuve improves into 13th and is right behind Ralf Schumacher.

40 min: Heinz Harald Frentzen goes second!. He is just 0.07 seconds behind Michael. Qualifying trim perhaps ?

39 min: Bernoldi improves his time but remains in 5th. Jarno Trulli takes 9th with a time of 1:21.278. The 2 Renaults are the best Michelin runners at this stage. Frentzen on a flyer!

38 min: Both Williams are back outside the top 10 with Ralf Schumacher in 11th and Juan Pablo Montoya in 13th. The team indicated they would struggle at this track.

36 min: Takuma Sato improves into 17th with a time of 1:22.402.

35 min: Top 10 - M Schumacher, Button, Barrichello, Panis, Bernoldi, Frentzen, Fisichella, Massa, Coulthard and Heidfeld.

33 min: Giancarlo Fisichella takes 7th away from Massa with a 1:21.185

32 min: Felipe Massa takes 7th with a time of 1:21.197.

30 min: At this stage we have 2 Arrows in the top 6 while the Jaguars are 17th and 19th. Both run Cosworth engines!

29 min: Heinz Harald Frentzen takes 6th from David Coulthard!. Alex Yoong takes 21st from Takuma Sato.

28 min: David Coulthard takes 6th from Heidfeld. At this stage we have only 3 Michelin runners in the top 10.

26 min: Nick Heidfeld improves to 6th place with a time of 1:21.301. Mika Salo takes 15th from Villeneuve.

25 min: Top 10 - M Schumacher, Button, Barrichello, Panis, Bernoldi, Massa, R Schumacher, Raikkonen, Fisichella and Trulli.

25 min: Panis moves into 4th while Bernoldi takes 5th!

24 min: It is interesting that the time set by Michael Schumacher is still slower than the best time set during the 1st Friday practice last year.

23 min: Villeneuve improves again and moves into 15th.

22 min: Takuma Sato finally manages a timed lap and moves into 21st with a time of 1:23.421

21 min: Jacques Villeneuve manages to move ahead of Pedro de la Rosa and take 16th.

20 min: Michael Schumacher improves in 1st with a time of 1:20.380. Ralf Schumacher moves into 5th place with a time of 1:21.409.

19 min: Michael Schumacher on a flyer.

18 min: Juan Pablo Montoya improves but remains outside the top 10 with a 1:22.043.

16 min: Renault continue to impress as they keep rapidly improving. Button is just 0.012 seconds behind Michael and is the best Michelin runner at this stage. Felipe Massa improves but remains in 4th.

15 min: Some improvements now as Jenson Button moves into second between the 2 Ferraris while Fisichella takes 6th.

14 min: Eddie Irvine moves ahead of Jacques Villeneuve and takes 18th place behind Mark Webber. Takuma Sato returns to the pits without setting a competitive time.

12 min: Mark Webber moves up into 17th with a time of 1:22.459. That is impressive from the Australian. Barrichello doesn't improve.

11 min: Rubens Barrichello is on the track and is fast in the first sector.

10 min: Takuma Sato is back on the track and starts his first flying lap of the day.

8 min: Takuma Sato went out for an installation lap and returned back to the pits. He didn't set a time this morning.

7 min: Oliver Panis moves into 10th with a time of 1:22.047.

6 min: Michael Schumacher runs wide but recovers.

5 min: Olivier Panis is the first improvement of this session, moving up into 12th place with a time of 1:22.184.

4 min: Michael Schumacher's first time is over a second slower than his best time set this morning.

3 min: More drivers go out on the track.

2 min: Jenson Button follows and so does Michael Schumacher.

1 min: Trulli is the first man on the track.
