French GP - 1st Friday Practice Session

Final Order - Rubens Barrichello, David Coulthard, Michael Schumacher, Juan Pablo Montoya, Ralf Schumacher and Kimi Raikkonen make the top 6.
Button, Irvine, de la Rosa, Sato, Fisichella, Heidfeld, Trulli, Massa, Panis, Salo, McNish, Villeneuve, Webber and Yoong make the rest of the field.

60 min: Session over as Villeneuve goes off and is stuck in the gravel. Yoong improves again to 1:20.891!

59 min: Final lap ...

58 min: And Yoong improves with a time of 1:21.0976. Just under 0.8 seconds off the 107% mark!

57 min: The Jaguars are looking good running in 8th and 9th. That is assuming they are running high levels of fuel!

56 min: As expected with this kind of weather, the Michelins have an advantage over the Bridgestone runner. Ferrari however still look strong.

55 min: Top 10 - Barrichello, Coulthard, M Schumacher, Montoya, R Schumacher, Raikkonen, Button, Irvine, de la Rosa and Sato.

53 min: No improvements at this stage.

51 min: And Barrichello spins as well but also recovers.

50 min: Mark Webber spins, goes through the gravel but recovers remarkably.

49 min: Villeneuve improves again but remains in 18th!

48 min: Apart from the Arrows drivers who have not appeared on the track this session. David Coulthard in second has covered the least number of laps with 6.

47 min: Jarno Trulli moves back to 13th with a time of 1:16.763. Fisichella takes 11th from Heidfeld.

46 min: Jacques Villeneuve improves but remains in 18th with a time of 1:17.783

45 min: Olivier Panis moves into 14th with a time of 1:17.042

44 min: Top 10 - Barrichello, Coulthard, M Schumacher, Montoya, R Schumacher, Raikkonen, Button, Irvine, de la Rosa and Sato.

42 min: No improvements at this stage as the drivers are running on used tyres with heavy fuel loads.

40 min: Felipe Massa moves into 13th with a time of 1:16.776.

38 min: Takuma Sato takes 10th from Nick Heidfeld. It looks like the Bridgestone runners (bar Ferrari) will be competing for 10th place this weekend!

37 min: Yoong has covered the most number of laps so far but his time is still over 1.5 seconds off the 107% time!.

36 min: Just half a second separates the top 6. The top 3 teams will be close this weekend and that is great to see.

35 min: Fisichella improves his time but remains in 11th.

34 min: The Ferraris are the only Bridgestone runners in the top 9!

33 min: Nick Heidfeld takes 10th from Fisichella.

32 min: All the drivers have now set times except for the 2 Arrows. Yoong's time is over 1.5 seconds outside the 107% of the current fastest time!

32 min: Jarno Trulli moves into 13th after struggling for a few laps. His time was a 1:17.102.

31 min: Rubens Barrichello moves to the top of the timesheets with a time of 1:15.056.

30 min: Top 10 - Coulthard, M Schumacher, Montoya, R Schumacher, Barrichello, Button, Raikkonen, Irvine, de la Rosa and Fisichella.

29 min: Kimi Raikkonen takes 7th on his first timed lap with a time of 1:16.074

28 min: Michael Schumacher takes second with a 1:15.174.

27 min: Rubens Barrichello moves into 5th with a 1:15.696.

27 min: Jenson Button moves into 4th with a time of 1:16.272

26 min: Both Ferraris are on the track!. The 2 Arrows have yet to appear. It looks like another financial hurdle they have to overcome before being allowed to take part this weekend!

25 min: And David Coulthard goes fastest with a time of 1:15.099!

24 min: Villeneuve takes 12th with a 1:19.289. Fisichella takes 7th with a 1:17.192. Coulthard on track.

23 min: Villeneuve, Fisichella and Trulli join the action.

22 min: Top 10 - Montoya, R Schumacher, Irvine, de la Rosa, Heidfeld, Sato, Salo, Massa, McNish and Webber.

21 min: Ralf Schumacher moves into second with a time of 1:15.481.

20 min: And Montoya goes straight to the top of the timesheets with a time of 1:15.271. That is already half a second faster than last year's best time during this session.

19 min: Nick Heidfeld moves into 3rd with a 1:16.839. The 2 Williams are on the track.

18 min: Pedro de la Rosa moves into second with a time of 1:16.423. Sato is back on track and he goes 5th fastest with a time of 1:18.318.

17 min: Pedro de la Rosa starts his flyer as Felipe Massa joins in the action.

16 min: Eddie Irvine goes fastest with a time of 1:16.366. That is a good time from the Jaguar driver. de la Rosa on track.

16 min: Allan McNish improves his time in second with a 1:17.219. Sato aborts his run and pits after having a slight touch with Salo!

15 min: Takuma Sato starts his first flyer as Irvine joins in.

14 min: Yoong improves too, this time his time is a 1:22.556.

13 min: Takuma Sato joins the action while Webber improves with a 1:18.398.

12 min: And Yoong sets a time of 1:24.457. That is over 4.5 seconds slower than his team-mate. He'll struggle again here!

11 min: Allan McNish takes second with a time of 1:18.133

10 min: Mika Salo goes better with a time of 1:17.205

10 min: Mark Webber sets a time of 1:18.903

9 min: Webber starts his first timed lap.

9 min: Mike Salo, Alex Yoong and Allan McNish follow

8 min: Mark Webber is the first to go back out on the track for a longer run.

6 min: No activity on the track at the moment.

4 min: All the cars are back in the pits now.

3 min: And the two Arrows. Is this going to be another difficult week for them ?

2 min: Most of the drivers are on the track. The 2 Ferraris have yet to appear.

1 min: More drivers go out on the track for their installation lap including Massa, Yoong, Montoya and Sato.

Session underway and Mark Webber is the first to go out onto the track.

The weather conditions are expected to be warm all weekend which should advantage the Michelin runners. It will be an interesting fight between Ferrari and the top Michelin runners. Session starting in 2 minutes
