So Michael Schumacher continues his amazing record here in Brazil while his team-mate suffers yet another failure. Ralf Schumacher moves into second in the championship ahead of Juan Pablo Montoya who managed to salvage 2 points after having to pit early in the race after losing a front wing getting too close to Michael. David Coulthard managed to finish a race and on the podium for the first time this season while Renault continue to impress with Trulli in 5th while Mika Salo has scored another point for Toyota.

Final Lap: Michael Schumacher wins the race ahead of Ralf Schumacher. Coulthard is third. Jenson Button is 4th ahead of Juan Pablo Montoya and Mika Salo.

Lap 49: Ralf Schumacher closing in on Michael. Gap is down to 2.333 seconds.

Lap 48: Race Order: M Schumacher, R Schumacher, Coulthard, Raikkonen, Trulli, Button make the top 6. Juan Pablo Montoya is in 7th. Both McLarens passed the 2 Renaults via the pit stops.

Lap 47: Ralf Schumacher is just over 2 seconds behind Michael.

Lap 37: Kimi Raikkonen takes 5th from Jenson Button.

Lap 36: Michael Schumacher again goes fastest with a 1:16.4. He has increased the gap to Ralf.

Lap 34: Michael Schumacher sets the fastest lap of the race so far with a 1:16.501.

Lap 33: Michael Schumacher leads Ralf by 5.3 seconds. Trulli in 3rd is over 45 seconds behind Michael

Lap 32: Michael has not stopped yet so he could be on a single stop.

Lap 31: Ralf Schumacher catching Michael. He is just over 5 seconds behind now. Michael is going through traffic though.

Lap 29: Race Order: M Schumacher leads R Schumacher by under 8 seconds. Trulli in 3rd ahead of Coulthard. Button ahead of Raikkonen making the top 6.

Lap 28: Following a number of drivers who made their first stops and a number of retirements, Juan Pablo Montoya is up in 10th.

Lap 27: Heinz Harald Frentzen retires in the pits.

Lap 26: Panis retires, second retirement for a Honda powered team.

Lap 25: Felipe Massa pits for his first stop.

Lap 25: David Coulthard trying to pass Jarno Trulli without success.

Lap 24: Villeneuve pits for his first stop. He was in 10th.

Lap 24: Michael Schumacher if on a 2 stopper will be stopping in the next couple of laps.

Lap 23: The Williams are lapping a second a lap quicker than Michael Schumacher.

Lap 22: Coulthard pushing Trulli but cannot get close enough.

Lap 21: Race Order: M Schumacher, R Schumacher, Trulli, Coulthard, Button and Raikkonen make the top 6. Montoya in 17th.

Lap 20: Ralf Schumacher in second is now starting to catch Michael. 

Lap 19: Jarno Trulli remains in third just ahead of David Coulthard. Yoong spins in 17th.

Lap 18: Michael Schumacher now leads ahead of Ralf Schumacher.

Lap 16: Rubens Barrichello slow. He parks it. Disappointment for him. 2 car failure in a row.

Lap 15: Barrichello is now over 2 seconds ahead of Michael. Ralf Schumacher starting to respond. He is 10 seconds behind.

Lap 13: Coulthard takes 5th back from Jenson Button.

Lap 13: Barrichello takes 1st place from Michael. They must be on different strategies.

Lap 12: Montoya is still back in 20th place and over a minute behind.

Lap 11: Rubens just 1.5 seconds behind Michael.

Lap 10: Rubens Barrichello sets the fastest time of the race so far with a 1:16.813

Lap 9: Race Order: Michael Schumacher leads Barrichello by 2.4 seconds. Ralf Schumacher in third is 8 seconds behind Michael. Trulli, Button and Coulthard make the top 6. Raikkonen, Heidfeld, Massa and Salo make the top 10.

Lap 7: Giancarlo Fisichella blows an engine.

Lap 7: Michael Schumacher is 3.6 seconds ahead of Rubens Barrichello. 

Lap 5: Rubens Barrichello is catching Michael Schumacher. He may even be on a 3 stop strategy. 

Lap 4: Rubens Barrichello manages to pass Ralf Schumacher and takes second place.

Lap 3: Race order: Michael Schumacher leading Ralf Schumacher by 5 seconds. Barrichello, Trulli, Button and Coulthard make the top 6. Montoya is in 20th.

Lap 2: Rubens Barrichello who appears on lighter fuel load has moved up to 4th place.

Lap 1: Jarno Trulli and Jenson Button managed to get ahead of both McLarens at the start.

Lap 1: Michael leads from Ralf Schumacher. Montoya pits and is back in 20th place.

Race Start: Juan Pablo Montoya touches the back of Michael and loses a front wing and will be forced to pit.

A bit of cloud cover now but the track temperature is now up to 40 degrees. These are conditions that favour the Michelin runners. Formation lap in 4 minutes

Michael Schumacher has an impressive record here. He finished in the points in the 10 times he participated and only missed the podium once. He won 3 times, finished 2nd twice and 3rd on 4 occasions. By contrast his team-mate Rubens Barrichello only finished once from 10 attempts. Formation lap in 5 minutes

Juan Pablo Montoya in the Williams starts from Pole with Michael Schumacher next to him in the new Ferrari. Ralf Schumacher in the second Williams is third with David Coulthard in the McLaren in 4th. Formation lap in 15 minutes
