28-June: On the final day of testing at Barcelona, McLaren's test driver Alexander Wurz set the fastest time of the day ahead of Arrow Heinz Harald Frentzen and Renault's Jenson Button.
With Sauber and Jordan concluding their test yesterday, only 5 teams were present with 8 drivers setting lap times. Williams' test driver Marc Gene completed a massive 141 laps followed by William' test driver Antonio Pizzonia with 103 and McLaren's test driver Alexander Wurz with 91 laps.
There were no major incidents during the session although a number of cars stopped on the track.
Weather conditions were sunny with air  temperature reaching 32 degrees while track temperatures reached 41 degrees.
Most teams were satisfied from the results achieved during this test. Williams Test Team Manager Tim Newton said "A useful test in terms of tyres and set-up work. In fact we've achieved a lot despite the hot conditions. The whole test team has worked very hard this week and deserve the weekend break." While Renault's Technical Director Mike Gascoyne said " An effective day's work to round off a useful week. Jenson did a lot of miles this week, which allowed us to complete a number of development programmes, including some promising engine developments." Arrows were also pleased with their results with Chief Race Engineer Graham Taylor saying " We’ve completed what’s been quite a comprehensive test here. We managed to get through most of our programme and made some good progress. Over the four days, we’ve been working with Cosworth on engine development and we also tried some new suspensions systems on the car. We had a few minor problems running earlier in the test, but Heinz was able to get in some good mileage. All in all, a lot of hard work which I think we can be pleased with."

Jaguar Racing gave Minardi's driver Mark Webber a test in the Jaguar R3 and while he set the slowest time of the day, he was only a few hundredths of a second slower than Jaguar's driver Pedro de la Rosa.

Sarrazin completed 75 laps with a best time of 1:15.750 while McNish covered 176 laps over the 2 days with a best time of 1:13.340.
McNish was able to test for the team despite injuring his shoulder during the European Grand Prix. He said "My shoulder is now back in perfect working condition after resting well after the European GP. We managed to complete many laps over the two days. We worked on aerodynamics and mechanical items, as well as some suspension and electronics work, which improved the overall handling of the car. It was generally a productive two days with everyone working hard in hot conditions."
